As a blogger, one of the most important things you need to to do grow your blog is promote your blog posts.
Promoting your blog posts will bring your more traffic, more followers, and ultimately more money if your are blogging for profit. It’s important to promote your new blog posts, but also old ones as well.
Here are 14 ways to promote your blog posts:
If you don’t have a fan page for your blog on Facebook, I highly recommend it. Every time you publish a new blog post, share the link on your page. You can also share it on your personal page if you wish, but I keep mine strictly separate for family privacy.
There are quite a few WordPress plugins that will post a link to your Facebook page automatically as soon as you publish a new post. Keep in mind to share links to your old posts once in a while as well.
When sharing links on Facebook, try to add a picture or some words that describe the post. Sometimes just a bare link will actually scare people away because it looks spammy or like you are trying to sell something. Catch their attention!
Sharing your post is pretty easy on Twitter. After I hit publish I go to my actual post and at the bottom you will see all of the share options, including Twitter. You can easily tweet it out from there.
Don’t forget to include hashtags in your tweet to help that tweet get more eyes on it!
You should have at least one pin-able picture in every blog post and always pin it to Pinterest! I honestly probably get 80% of my traffic from Pinterest.
The reason I love Pinterest so much is because it is very visual and it’s a popular social media site that people use all the time. It’s so easy to users to see your pins which lead to your posts, and you can always go back and easily share your old posts as well.
Instagram is huge these days. In fact it has more users than Twitter now. Although I don’t receive as much traffic from Instagram and I do from Pinterest, it still helps.
I take a screen shot from my blog post, or add the same photo from my blog post to Instagram with a preview of that post. I then add the direct link to that post in my bio so it’s super easy for my followers to click the link and go straight to that blog post. Don’t forget to add hashtags to get it seen by more people!

5. Stumble Upon
This is pretty easy to use. I submit every single one of my blog posts to Stumble Upon. It’s a quick and easy way to get a few more views! Be careful adding too many links at one time though, you might get looked at as spammy.
6. Add it to your newsletter
If you have a weekly or monthly newsletter for your blog, don’t forget to share a snippit from your posts, a picture, and the link to the posts!
Google plus is also becoming huge and you can easily share it the same way you would tweet out your blog posts. Just go to the bottom of your post and you can find the share option for Google +.
Google Plus is really similar to Facebook, but the only difference is that there are no limitations to who can see your posts. Facebook sometimes only lets about 5% of your actual followers see your posts, which can really hurt your reach and traffic to your blog.
8. Ask your viewers to share it.
Don’t be afraid to ask your followers to help spread the word of your blog posts. Simply add a friendly line at the bottom of the post of something like “Spread the love!”, or “Sharing is caring”, or tell them if they learned something from your post to send it to a friend as well.
9. Internal Linking
Internal linking is possibly one of the smartest and easiest ways to promote your blog posts. It takes some effort at first, but the internal links will work for you forever, bringing traffic to your old blog posts continuously.
When writing a blog post, try to add in keywords that can be linked to a previous blog post that you wrote on a similar topic. This way when people are reading your post, they will see the link and look at that post as well. Make sure to have the link open in a new window so it doesn’t hurt your bounce rate.
Also, always go back and edit your old blog posts, adding internal links to previous and more current blog posts. Sometimes you might have an older blog post that receives a lot of traffic, so adding internal links in that post to some of your newer blog posts will help as well.
10. Comment on other blogs.
Commenting on other blogs is such a smart thing to do. Your comment and name will get seen by the writer of that post, as well as a large majority of their viewers too. Sometimes if the topic is very similar to one that you just wrote about, you can nicely comment and then share a link to your post at the end of the comment.
Don’t just go straight to the comments and say “Read this: link”, it will more than likely be deleted. You have to leave a friendly and relevant comment, and then say “I also wrote about this topic awhile ago and think you would like to read my opinion as well!”.
11. Link ups
Link ups are a great way to promote your blog posts. Although I don’t participate in link ups as much as I used to when I started out, it’s an easy way to meet new bloggers and get some more page views. There are tons of link ups out there and you can find a lot on Pinterest in group boards.
